Hi All,
I've noticed an issue where Lysaght C purlin members export to IFC with the purlins showing as flat plates instead of their full member profile. I've found a workaround where if the IFC is opened directly in revit the profiles show. I was originally going to re-export the IFC from revit (extremely painful process), however then there's a separate issue where the export to IFC seemingly ignores cutbacks?? The IFC is one of the main deliverables as consultants are co-ordinating against their revit models using this format. I'm at my wits end trying to get this to work. Does anyone have any advice?
Cheers
The problem in importing a beam to IFC format is that some information and data present in the original object is not exported. Always lack or miss information in exporting process. We can see clearly in the figure you sent that the "cutbacks" were not exported because the software could not interpret the modeling informating. This is a improvement that Autodesk need to implement (REVIT >>>Adavance Steel) and vice-versa.
Many users like you and other complain about the process of export to IFC, probably in the future this will be fixed.
I recommend you use another software the opens IFC with more capability to receive the original information to Advance Steel.
