Layer keeps changing

In my model I keep it on "standard" layer. There is no reason for me to even change it. However, it changes itself constantly, usually to a "A-GENM" layer which I would like to delete but not sure if I can. Drives me nuts. Is there a way to lock it onto the standard layer so it never changes? Thanks.

If you set the Standard layer to actual, the layer assignment will be set by Advance. The layer you wrote is not known to me, but this could be a country setting. So what installation do you use?

may I ask which version of AS are you using, also do you use any other form of Autocad vertical , for example mechanical or Architecture. personally i have not seen that layer in AS, it should remain on standard unless the user changes it, as you know that allows the layer assignment to work for object types in AS, like beams and bolts, anchors plates. other layer assignments are driven by macros that assign model roles, in-conjunction with the layer assignment table. Cheers

I'm using the 2019 United States version of Advance Steel. I've never heard of an "actual" layer. The "standard" layer is the Advance Steel default layer, as long as I keep it on standard, then members, beams, stairs, clip angles, whatever, will automatically be put on it's correct layer. But it doesn't stay on the standard layer and I'm having to put it back 20 times a day. I don't know what the "A-GENM" layer is all about but I have no use for it and it is very annoying. Thanks.

Using 2019 United States version. I have no mechanical, electrical or anything else. I always keep it on the "standard" layer but I have to change it back to standard 20 times a day. Thanks.

Then delete the layer 😁

To avoid this I would have a look in the template dwt file and have a look if the layer exist there too, if yes just delete it.

Thanks a lot. Some layers can't be deleted, and unfortunately this is one. I don't have anything on the layer but it won't delete. I just wish there was a way to put it on the standard layer and have stay on standard layer until I change it. It changes the current layer on its own, usually to that A-GENM layer, but others as well. Seems like every time I isolate something or other the current layer changes. Not sure if that's the only time it changes itself but it sure does it a lot. I guess I'll have to live with it. Thanks again.
