Issue with custom connections

I have a railing I am working on and have a custom connection that was created last year that I am trying to use. When I try and use the connection autocad is saying it needs to be converted and could take a long time. Its been hours and I cannot do anything like AS is locked up. I opened the file up in different window and it opened fine. I then saved it and the same problem came up(converting) when trying to use it in my stair model See attached picture.

open the connection template dwg, press save for transfering it to the new version. But don't forget to open the file from the actual file path and also save it there. Your description sound a bit like you open the file but save it to the wrong place

I have the file open in ADS2023 from the connectionTempletes folder. I dont see the option when you press save  to transfer file to another version. Where is that option?

It's just the save button from AutoCAD.

Could you have a look in your Defaults in the management tools what you insert for the path of connection templates?
