How to properly remove\delete a User Created Profile

Hi, I have previously created some of my own profiles for cold rolled steel. I have created these using the Hype_Frame etc tools.

I would like to know how to properly delete or remove these user created profiles as I would like to start again but using the same names as previous as I find that if I want to edit the profile I have to use a different name otherwise I get an error when Generating Selected Section.

I can see the profiles in Management Tools > Astor Profiles > USR_CSBDoorJambs I can delete these entries but assume I need to do something else as I cannot recreate the profiles using the same previous name as I keep getting the following message:

Error writing section, errorcode -1

It seems to me that you are using the right procedure to delete the user profiles you have generated:

- Open Management Tools --> Table editor

- Open the AS installed databases

- Select the AstorProfiles database

- Search for the table containing the generated profiles. Its name is like USR_[Section class] and open it

- Delete the records

- Back in AS, use the Update defaults command (or open a new AS session)

Then you should be able to generate the section again.

If you cannot / if you still receive the error message: it might be a different cause.

If so, please add your DWG containing the user section definition and an archive with your AstorProfiles.mdf database and I will take a look further.

Many thanks for your help on this - I must apologise for the double post hence my not responding previously as I had only checked the other post for responses.

I do seem to have it working with your advice to start a new AS session. Previously I was only deleting the offending row from the database I was unaware of there being a need to update defaults or start a new session, not doing either of these resulted in still being able to select the deleted db item which got me to thinking there was a further step but, you have clarified the need to update defaults or new session and from now on when I make any mistakes etc I delete the db item then restart AS and I find I can then recreate the profile without any issues.

@Emanuel.Nestor how can we do it for a higher level class? My client has put in various classes with their user profiles inside that class, but the class is still there, albeit empty.

Hi Tom,

you need to goto the profilemaster table inside astorprofile s.mdf,  In that table the user profile creation will have made an entry, this needs to be removed.

just look for the usr prefix and the overall class name used,  this should remove the class reference.
