I have struggled with numbering on AS forever. I have watched countless hrs of video and read pages and pages of how to on knowledge network and I just cannot understand how to change numbering......

In the attached simple for AS forum 6-23-17.jpgimage I would like the part numbering to be simple like A,B,C,D,E,F,G....etc  not the way it is, can someone PLEASE help me to understand how to change....

Hi Muleman

it looks like you use specific prefix with role of your beams.

See below:

thank you @AntDrt that was partial solution, but I still get a lower case "a". I go and individually clear each name prefix in advance properties of each piece, then clear all marks, save and close AS, reopen and renumber. see what I get below... btw why do I have the duplicate mark# and quantity at top of each line? it is annoying...

Hi,

Can you attach a screenshot of your numbering option ?

And for the DrawingList, it seems you have the token %MNum in the group called "GROUPHEADER1" and the token %PNum in the lower group "DETAILS" who are the same for your assemblies.

it's due to the way of the list.

For Alone part you may make a list special for it with just the group "GROUPHEADER1" to have only one line and not details of the assembly who's not needed for standalone part.

hope it helps.

Thank you for your time. I apologize for my ignorance. The modelling I'm OK with, but producing custom documentation is just overwhelming...

Hi,

Try setting the Post number method to SP No (for standalone part) = Assembly No. Renumber your model and see what changes you have.

Kind Regards

Hi,

Thanks Chris for your screenshot,

For you Muleman did you untick the box for use the prefix ? or just change one by one ?

Your numbering preset would be for better understanding what Chris showed (this is what i use and very happy with it)

Hi Muleman,

Just a quick observation I have made - You need to select a model role as this effects the numbering output.

I will do some further tests.

Kind Regards

Hi, remove partmarks (preliminary/secondary/mainparts) and relaunch a numbering, all your prefix will diseappear and it will be good.

(worked for me)

Thank you for your time!

If you toggle between the delete part marks button it should delete single part, assembly part and preliminary part marks. At this point it should be back to the point before you ran the numbering process.

The button at the top of the three is the toggle between sp, ap, pp marks you have to toggle through all three. You only deleted the single part mark.

@muleman1 Great to hear that you have finally cracked it and well done to @AntDrt and @steeldesgn. The toggle button is easily missed if you don't know how!

Kind regards
