How do I load the Advance Steel menu?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi, I'm sure this is a simple fix, but I can not seem to find the answer with my searches.

Just now moving from AS2015 to 2016, and I am not sure what I have done but the AS ribbon menu is not loading.

I can "menuload" certain .cuix files, but I can't seem to find anything Advance Steel related when I browse.

The Menuload list shows an Advance Steel menu is loaded.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello Breaking_CAD,

You can find all the menu file for Advance Steel at this path:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Advance Steel 2016\Steel\Support\Toolbars

The main *.cuix should be at this path:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Advance Steel 2016\Steel\Support

have you launch AS2016 on ACAD2016? If it not the case, you must initiate ACAD2016 first then close and start Advance Steel.

Hope it will help 🙂

Regards,

Thanks for replying, Olivier...

As for this:

You can find all the menu file for Advance Steel at this path:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Advance Steel 2016\Steel\Support\Toolbars

I'm not sure how to load the toolbars.

As for this:

The main *.cuix should be at this path:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Advance Steel 2016\Steel\Support

When I use Menuload, unload the Advance Steel cuix that is there and find the one you mentioned.. I get this (no ribbon at all):

First thing first, make sure you've installed all the update for this version, could you double check and make sure you are in the proper "Workspace" then next to the ribbons, you can right click and choose which Ribbon you want to load. Worst case scenario, you can also create you own workspace and customize it using the cmd: CUI as the attached picture, you can load any Ribbons that you want from any *.cuix or *.cui files that you loaded.

I'm not sure what the "proper workspace" is.   In 2015, i used a custom one.  When I load AS2016, there were no workspaces to choose from, until I created a custom one.

Also, right-clicking next to the ribbon menu, I have no AS options to choose from:

Then in the CUI, I notice all commands are listed "ADVANCE STEEL" instead of "AS" like yours.. and there are no "ACAD" commands like in AS2015

I got the ribbon finally, but now have no icons.

This is always a tough decision... Personally due to the nature of the issue, I guess you migrate you ACAD standards, at the initial start. Which I will suggest you to not attempt with the older version of Advance Steel (2016). So a clean uninstall of Advance Steel and AutoCAD may help. I might be longer than create your own workspace but for sure more straight forward...

Good! From the previous path could you earase the *.mnl and *.mnr files? then close and restart Advance steel.

Ok, did that.  When it reopens there is no ribbon, and I have to menuload to get it... and still no icons.

I tried a few times.

Is there a way to make the menu load by default?

If you use the cmd: "astorabout" what is your Advance Steel built version and if you use the cmd: "about" what is your ACAD version. Note that Advance Will work only on the Same year version of ACAD and it should not be mechanical or architectural ACAD.

Astorabout:  Build Number: 10047  Advance Steel 2016 SPO

AutoCAD "about":  Product version M. 49.0.0  AutoCAD 2016

But.. the weird thing is when I click on Help in AutoCAD, I get this...

Thats because that help menu is for Autocad not Advance Steel

The help menu for Advance Steel is on the Tools tab

No, it showed the info for 2016.

I don't know why that was even happening, as I don't have 2017.  I did install AS2018/ACAD2018 though, so maybe something happened ?!

I just pointed it out in case this has been seen before and could maybe help diagnose my problem.

Complete uninstall of AS and ACAD then a reinstall seems to have helped fix the silly icon problem.  But now I have to customize everything again.

Starting with that goofy "express" menubar.    I need my File/Edit/etc.

Off to Google....
