Hole Dimensioning Hidden Holes

Hello,

I have made a drawing style that shows exactly what I need it apart from one thing.

I need the dimensioning to include the hidden holes on the bottom of the beam aswell. The holes are shown but I cant work out how to make the dimensions reference them aswell.

Please see image attached.

Many thanks,

Callum

There are many ways of achieving what you require within AS.

A little bit of drawing style customization is required for arranging below you will need to combine dimension styles and create a new style

else a simpler way is to separately add dimensions style for visible holes and hidden holes

Thank you for this. I have been playing about with the settings trying to find a dimension definition that picks up all the holes but so far no luck. I am using the Australian version of Advance Steel and everything is named really strange things which is hard to decipher. I will keep trying.

Is there some other place to change the settings to include hidden holes? I have been through all the possible dimension definitions, and it will still not select the hidden holes on the bottom.

Thanks,

Callum

You can change it globally in the management tools, but this will then be for all the dimensions.

See below:

Or you can change your one dimension request in the drawing styles to dimension the visible and hidden. This way it will only be for that dimension and not all. See below: (Just an example)

hi,

in the management tools,  under the defaults,  there are some settings that prevent dimensioning to hidden details.
MT>Defaults>Drawings - Dimensions > General > Enable dimension of hidden details .

johnjmbennett_0-1682414829982.png

typically the hidden details are set not to be dimensioned,  so i think in this case for hidden holes that is what is overriding the dimension request.
I would  have to run a test to check this and see the results.

Note: you can create different MT Defaults profiles, and change between then, if you do need to dimension to hidden detail.

Maybe also to add, if you are referring to the holes in the bottom flange that did not get any dimensions,  it could also be that you need to check the setup, from the geometric restrictions, depth position etc

yer ignus.e reply works  if

as show in reply 5

u need the enable dimensioning  of hidden holes   ticked in management tools (this wont effect all hidden holes )

u must select visibul and hidden

and u must change Geometric restriction to all or top +front/length

What I meant is that the drawing style visible and hidden setting overrides the management tools setting.  So even if its turned off in th MT and on in the DSM, it will still dimension the hidden holes for that specific dimension request. So what I meant if you turn it on in the MT, you would see that it dimensions to hidden stiffeners as well. So that way you can control to dimension to all hidden elements in the MT or only specific hidden elements in the DSM
