Help. singlepart detail is not centered in drawing frame

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to come up with some drawing processes for singleparts.  The detail box, seemingly randomly, will be towards the upper left instead of centered in the prototype (HYPERSTEELPAGEFRAME).

I have been into the prototype drawing, document manager, define drawing layout, and have tried every combination for "single detail sheet arrangement" i.e. "Automatic center calculation", "use center of frame" and "Manually define center point".... nothing helps or changes.

It seems random, because some of my drawings do get centered, using the exact same drawing process and same prototype.  Like this

Capture8.JPG
It seems like the "simple" beams will get centered, but if it has another view, its on the left.... but not always!!  Like this one worked ok?  Why?

I found one thread here (https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/advance-steel-forum/assemblies-not-centering-on-prototype/td-p/833437...) that implied maybe it had to do with the page header.... I have completely removed the page header, purged it from the prototype, and still the details don't get centered.

Does anybody see what I am missing or what is going on?

Thanks

Ron

Hi,

Start Position for X is set to 0, and start position for Y is set to 10 1/2, it should be somewhere in the center of the frame,

Click on Detail and manually define the center, otherwise, mine are same and it works.

Try with unchecked For Assembly dwgs main view is centered and manually define center.

If it is made of steel, I can model it and detail it.

Thank you Ilko,

I changed the start position X and Y and that is what was causing the details to be located in the upper left.

But I am still confused... why do some singlepart details get centered (in the top where is says "single detail sheet arrangement") but others use the bottom part and the X Y start position?  All of the drawings I made were one single detail of a singlepart on the same prototype (so I would think that would use the "single detail sheet arrangement"

Hi,

Is the process using same dwg style, or different dwg styles.

Hi Ilko,

Yes, I am using same process and style.  Also same model role for the parts.

I finally figured it out.  It has to do with Advance Steel trying to fit the detail into the frame, won't fit, then it tries an alternate scale.  I ran a batch of drawings for cut angle pieces. Some were centered, some used the X & Y start point.  I pressed F2 after it generated the drawings and looked at the text.

For any drawings that didn't center the detail (instead used the X Y startpoint) the text read...

... Trying 1 alternate scale: 1 1/2"=1'-0"      <<<<< if it has this, it isn't centered.

So at least now I understand why some details were centered and some were offset.

Thanks for the help Ilko

Ron
