Grating - Partial hatching?

Is there a way to show partial hatching of grating on a plan view on a design drawing so that it does not block out the beams, etc.?  Typically on a (traditional 2D) design drawing, I would just show hatching only at certain corners & areas of the grating extents to show where the it begins/ends.  I'm sure this has something to do w/ the Drawing Style Manager, which is not the most user-friendly interface.  Thanks.

This isn't possible to do as far as I am aware, however, there are several things you can do:

  1. Manually create a closed polyline and add a standard hatch pattern making certain the hatch layer is deleted on the drawing or not part of the drawing creation, or
  2. Select the grating and in the Advance properties under the Cut Region Hatch tab turn on Hatch colour and choose a hatch pattern. Remember to do a drawing update for the hatch to show. The hatch will cover all the grate area but not the beams above. If you want to see the beams below then set the transparency of the Grating layer to 60-80% and ensure that hidden lines are visible

Thanks for the reply.  Not sure if I followed you correctly, but I did do:

Re:  1 - Correct me if I'm wrong, but polylines & other 2D elements (lines, circles, etc.) drawn in model space do not show up on a drawing (paper space) (at least it does not for me).  But I did draw a polyline w/ grating hatching inside of it in paper space, which is a viable option.

Re: 2 - Using the regular grating options (I did not do the Cut Region Hatch, etc.), I just set the grating layer transparency to 50% & specified show hidden lines, which would also be a viable option.
