Extrude Text Through Channel.

Hi everyone

I'm looking to cut writing into a channel which will be part of a canopy over doorway with Company name in it.

Is there a way I can explode text (I know this does not work) and turn it into a polyline to cut that contour into the channel.

I understand I can draw the letters a polylines was just hoping there was a way to do it with written text.

Also it would be useful for etching numbers on plates etc.

Thank you

Try express tools, think they are still in 2018 autocad, found references to them still.

installs a separate series of tools aimed at autocad functions.

to load goto programe and features , change , look for the additional items to install.

there used to be a command to explode the text to give a pline outline if I recall correctly.

you may have to redo some of the curves in text characters to make them work with the ploygon contour feature in AS to cut out the profile. May have to fillet internal corners to allow to burn/ profile cut radius.

In AS look on AS palette,  features - polygon contour.

Worked a few years back on a job we had, hopefully still now also.

think there are few FAQ out there on express tools.

We just choose any text tool, then use express tool bar to explode text into polylines.  watch the screencast closely, you can see how
