External BOM - Drawing List - Drawings listed in wrong order

Good Morning,

we have been customizing our Drawing list and all went well except we can't find out how to put the drawings in right group order.

For some reason assembly drawings are listed first and GAs are second group. We would like to change this order for GAs to be listed first. We tried many tokens for GroupHeader and then set up its sorting order but nothing seems to be working and no matter what we try the group order won't change.

Please see attached picture.

We have used: User Template/Derived documents/Derived documents/Detail list with sections template and just slightly modified it.

Could anyone please advise what to do to force this list to change its group order as we have run out of ideas.

Thank you all in advance

Ondrej

if you open the BOM Editor and then open the your list. Use the right mouse button and click on the groupheader, in the context menu, there should be "sorting" entry. There this could be changed

Hi,

This exactly what we were doing but nothing has changed. It still lists Assembly first and GA second, no matter what sorting order we use.

do click on the green arrow? so if the the arrow shows "up" it's alphabetic like a,b,c...if the arrow show "down" it's: z,y,x,...

Yes, I am familiar with it. No mater what direction the arrow is facing the group order is still same.

I tested it on my side, and you're right. This is a bug in my opinion.

At least i know that I am not the only one with this problem and I am not going crazy :-).

Thank you Sebastian for your time, I do really appreciate it.

I am going to accept it as a solution and post it onto Advance Steel suggestion forum.

Regards,

Ondrej

Hi @Anonymous ,

Thank you for posting on Advance Steel forum 🙂

Not entirely sure what was the starting BOM template, since the available types on my side are these:

2019-03-18_1512_DWG_list_type.png2019-03-18_1512_DWG_list_type.png

I guess though that it was one like "List of drawings wit parts". In this case, indeed, the drawings are grouped based on their type - MP, SP, Overview. The order of these groups is hard-coded and cannot be changed.

This is the current implemented behavior for this type of BOM template.

I see you have already posted a feature request on the Advance Steel Idea Station portal. So it will be directly visible to the development team for further analysis.

Alternatively, you could try the other type of BOM template, like "Drawings approval status list". In this case, the drawings are not grouped by their type. So you could sort them by the different tokens inside the BOM template.

I wish I could help you more in this.

Best regards,
Emy
