Exclude Joist from numbering and drawings

Working on a project with a substantial amount of joists. These joists are drawn in to aid in connection details, and similar uses. The joists are being supplied by a joist manufacturer, and therefore are not to be included in any numbering or drawing creation.

I have been working on this for several days and searching for the information. How do you exclude the joist, and all of it's components from numbering and drawing creation?

There are no options in the adv. properties that are able to "exclude" - the closest thing I see is a under geometry, it has a drop down for production is either "by manufacturer, or by workshop".

I've tested both ways, and using by workshop generates single part details for every part in the joist.

Using by manufacturer, a single part detail is created for the top chord. Neither of these work for the application I have at hand.

Is there a quick checkbox that I am missing to exclude the joists from all automated numbering and drawing creation? What is everyone else doing to get around this issue as I know I am not the only one that has to deal with this.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've actually found that thread multiple times through my searches. However, the naming tab isn't available on the advance properties for joists.

I've got a sample model I've been working with trying to find a work around, but am coming up empty handed.

Whether the parts appear in the drawing, whether they will be described and whether they will be dimensioned is controlled by the used model roles and definitions in the drawing styles. You can find a lot of material on YouTube, Help, ...

So to finalize this and provide my work around - there is no means/method of excluding joists from auto numbering or drawing configuration (at least OOTB without extensive modifications)

My work around was to isolate all joists, apply numbering to something that the wasn't inline with the project specific numbering. and run all the drawings for the joists. This created top chord assembly and part drawings. These were then just left to sit in oblivion within the file system.

Long story short - no logical way to exclude joists from the project. From what I've read though, Tekla seems to have this exact function built-in.
