End Plate directions in shop drawings

Hello all,

I have created my required shop drawing styles which consist of a few different views. One if which is the end plates for my columns. 

You will see from the attached image I have a column with an end plate on each end. The end plates are toeing different directions. However I cannot get my shop drawings to show these baseplates from the same downwards direction. I understand I may have to create two seperate views (1 for the top end plate from the outside and 1 for the bottom end plate from the inside). What I cannot work out is how to make each view only show one baseplate.

Hopefully this makes sense.

Any help much appreciated.

if you just want to have a drawing style fpr columns which show endplat cutviews...why do you create your own detailstyle? 
The endplates need the modelrole "endplate" and the column need to be assign as Column in the modelrole...the processes will use detailstyle which create automatic cuts.

If I have a look at your screenshot, I see Copy (11) and copy(12)...so you did a lot of deep copy in you databases. This will occurs a lot of mistakes in your database, because some objects are not working now.
For example: copy of model objects--> deep copy create a modelobject "copy of column" which mean a beam with a modelrole "Copy of column" this modelrole is not existing, so the whole detail style will not work correct.
If you want to repair this, it will be better to start with new databases

Hi Betreff,

The reason I have made my own drawing style is because there is actually
other views I have made in it that are required by our fabricators (you
just can’t see them on this particular column.) It was probably also a lack
of understanding the program when I started.

The only issue I am having just now is that I need to either show these end
plate drawings both from above looking down to the ground (in the same
view). Or make seperate views of the end plates to achieve the same result.

Does that make sense?

This is a fundamental part of detailing in Advance Steel. Messing around with Drawing Styles before understanding some of these basics is not advised. The results you are looking to achieve are far easier than the method you're trying to employ.

In the "View direction and Model Box" settings of the drawing style, in the "View direction on object" drop down there are several options for end plate views.

• "View on end plate form outside" - both end plates are viewed looking on the end of the beam so the beam is hidden.
• "Cross section at end plate from right" - both end plates are drawn from the right end of the main view. So the plate on right is drawn from outside while the plate on the left will still be drawn from the right as a section view with the beam visible.
• "Cross Section at end plate from left" - opposite of "from right" above.
• "Cross Section at end plate from inside" - both end plates are drawn as cross sections through the beam with the beam visible.

I image from Left or From Right will work for you (even though your column is vertical - turn your head on its side).
