So I've done a quick 3 part tutorial for people who wanted to follow the webinar I did recently on Dynamo and Advance Steel.

The webinar is at our Autodesk ANZ YouTube channel

The three tutorials are on LinkedIn and can be found at

Feel free to contact me if you want a more detailed demo if you're in Australia or New Zealand

Hi Tomislav,

I enjoyed the webinar but are the attached links correct as they only lead to an article on some woman involved in the moon landings.

Working OK now after logging in. Not all members of the forum would be on LinkedIn so the link should have a note on it saying "for members only" as the link does not work if not logged in.

Hi!

I have a 24 years of experience in CAD now I am moving to AS 2018. I want to learn. I am preparing 2D drawing for Substation structures and Transmission tower. I want to create it in AS.

In this structure we are using only L-Section members only at all parts of structures like... Bracing, Legs, Belts ,Joint etc...

I go thru AS but there is no define any L-Section to L-Section joint. That means we have to create manually.

if we do manually there is lots of L-Section type is used for joint. I want it to done by Dynamo. Every connection is difference than others. If in one tower there is 20 nos. of connection, out of 20 connections 18 connections are different and If I do manually it takes lots of time then why I use AS, I simply draw in 2D AutoCAD which even faster using AutoLISP programming.

I learnt little by seeing your great videos.

I have attached image which which create manually connection for L-Section L150x150x16.

I want to in Dynamo steps are following.

1. Click the Bottom Leg and get the Node Point, angle direction, section size

2. Click the Top Leg and get the Node Point, angle direction, section size

3. Insert the smaller splice into the bottom and top leg node point which I say.

4. Set Bolt Pitch, diameter of bolts, Bolts will be on Gauge line of main top and bottom L-section member.

5. Nos. of Bolts to be used in this connection. (both flange nos. of bolts are same.)

6. Edge security for the Plate and inside splice.

7. If Top and Bottom L-Section size is different then Shim plate to be added.

8. Putting the bolts of both flanges as per attached image.

Is it possible to doing by Dynamo if yes so, then how to do it. Help me fo Any procedure.

If it is not possible in Dynamo then how to do it in other ways like... VBA, VB.Net Stand Alone application, Macros.

Can we do in VBA. I am very familiar for that.

Thanks,

Avinash
