Drawing Style - Welded Frame Assembly

Is it possible to set up a Welded frame Assembly drawing style with a Left and Right view of the assembly that only views 500mm into the frame and not all the way through?

I have tried use the Z-Viewport settings and setting front and rear values to clip the left and right view but without success. Is this possible or am I just doing it wrong?

Tried with a camera?

Cutting a Section on either end of the Assembly would also work, although getting the Assembly drawing style to be closer to the target would be 1st prize.

Hi,

Try setting the Z viewport in the View Direction and  Model Box page like this

Hi,

I just remembered, I am pretty sure the Z depth only works with section or end plate views not with Left or Right views. It is not possible to get left or right views with limited depth. I have tried and been through it with Autodesk.

Thank you for that valuable feedback, I was going crazy thinking I was not setting it up correctly.  Is there a list of Model Roles (ie, End Plate....) that do work with those specific views?  I did a search but didn't find a reference list in the Autodesk documentation.

It sounds it is not possible to expand that list, I may need to conjure up some sort of hack or just manually create Side Views which is not ideal.

Hi,

There is no published list of useful model roles. You need to reverse engineer the Drawing Styles to figure that out. The easiest thing to do is copy the roles assigned by any macros or joints as the system is built around using those roles.
