detail moving problem

detail moving problem

Hi everyone,

Another annoying thing after migrating from 2016 to 2017.

In 2016, if I want to move a detail ( part, assembly, GA drawing ) I only needed to click one element of the detail than I could move that where I wanted to. Now in 2017 if I dont select the whole detail and also the green frame only the detail lables will be moved.See the attached picture (select the detail, thand moved right)

Why is it ?

If I select only the green frames, the result is the same. The labels and the dimension dont move. If I undo the moving, than make it again everything is fine.

Why I have to do it twice ?

Just a thought, did you import your databases from 2016 to 2017, mainly the AstorSettings database?

There seems to be a problem doing this (refer to italic text post) that does not occur if you do not migrate your databases.

I've tried the solution you gave, but it didn't change anything.

I can't work efficiently with this bug. It is very very annoying.

Still wating for the solution.

Hello. Could you please give us more details about how you move the objects ? Which command, what workflow ?

I've verified on my side with Advance Steel 2017 and I was able to move the views without any problem, regardless of the command.

I also recommand using the Advance Steel "Move View" command, found on Labels &Dimensions ribbon tab (See attached pic.).

Hello,

I use the basic autocad move command. I think this is the fastest way to move details in drawings.

When I make GA drawings I grab the green frame around the detail and move it, but the dim lines and the detail text left on the original place, than I undo the command and make it again than it works correctly. Or I select the whole detail (to see the whole detail ) the problem is the same, if I undo the move command and make it again than it works correctly.

When I make single part orr assembly drawings and the detail has more than one subdetail for example (a single part drawing) a top and a front view, and I want to move a little upper the top view, all the dim lines and detail text left on the original place, if I undo than the move command work correctly, and this is the same with assemly drawings. No matter I select the green frame, or I select the whole detail the mechainsm is the same, one move is wrong then undo and the second is works, but in this case I have to work twice as I want.

I use Autocad since the 2008 version (advance steel since 2010 version) . I use shortcuts, I dont want to click on an icon, it's slows my workflow.

Why dont work the move command if it worked in the previous versions ?

My experience with this sound very much the same. I also find it much quicker to use the native autocad "move" command (keystroke M) to arrange views in advance steel derived drawings. It doesn't work on the first attempt but does on the second. Thanks.

Thanks for the information. I've noticed as well the issue with the move not working for the first time, but working on the second. We'll investigate it on the development side and come with a solution as soon as possible. I've found out thou during my tests that this appears only if you use the "_Move" command (shortcut - M) first, and then selecting the view. If you do it the other way around - select the view, and then use "move" to start the move command - it never fails the first time.

As for the dimensions / labels not moving with the view, I still couldn't reproduce it on my side, using a release installation of Advance Steel 2017. As you can see in the following movie, all the "move" commands are done correct, with all the associated annotaions moving together with the views, even when using the AutoCAD move instead of the Advance Steel Move View command. Do you think of anything else that could help me understand the issue better that happens on your side ? Maybe there is a specific element / drawing where the issue appears - would help if you could share a drawing ?
