I'm desperate for some assistance here. I'm having an error whereby there is no derived documents folder being created when I save a project in Advance Steel.
I have a screenshot attached below....Sometimes the Folder with the same name as the project gets saved but there is no folders within such as BOM, Extracts, Details etc...
I thus get an error when attempting to create a drawing in the project that says " could not create file".
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
This problem is appearing sometimes in older version, the folders of Advance Steel are sometimes only created if the model.mdf is existing. This file will be created if you use the bom template palette and maybe create a list which you don't have to save. The way of creating is important in this case.
If you get an error message, that the folders could not be created, then this is a problem of the "read/write access of your windows user profile.
You need full access to the folder. Sometimes this is not given on server locations, you could try to save your model local.
if you use the right mouse button and open the properties of the folder where you want to save your model, it should look like this:

I attempted to create a BOM List as you instructed and I get the following error shown in the attached picture file.
Hi,
It might be worth checking your file path for files in the project folder does not exceed 248 characters. E.G for a drawing it would be "....\Containers installation\Details\filename.dwg". You need to count everything from the very start to the end of the DWG. Also if using a network share you should not use the logical drive letter but the full share path such as "\\data_server_1\CAD_data\" instead of "Z:\". If the full path is over 248 characters you can start having problems in many programs. Try moving the model to a shorter path.
