Cross Section Through Attached Part with Z normal to Attached Part

Hi,

Ref. screenshot below, trying to get interactive section views of a cambered stringer at attached parts with section views having Z normal to the attached parts, but if we select "Cross section through AP demanded by AP" in "View direction on object" section views do not get created, and they are not interactive.

Any idea what has to changed in order to get the section views oriented normal to the attached parts.

Thank you.

If it is made of steel, I can model it and detail it.

Hi Ilko,

I´m not shure if this works, but try toe use the View direction from endplate for section cuts.

Hi Ilko,

I tried this and it works, but only, if you will give the stiffener the role
endplate. One important point more: You have to change the Z view port!

Hi Karsten,

Thank you for the idea and for your time.

I went a little further:

1. Created the model roles for the attached parts (bearing stiffener and connection plate) in AstorBase, ModelRole-these have to be created there even if the model role is already created everywhere else (why, I have no idea...but it has to be done)

2. In ModelRulesRules table-I have added the new model roles and added "Allow creation of "end plate" views"

3. Used cut from right for end plates (from right is a rule in bridge detailing) as you have proposed:

4. Result is section views are created normal to attached parts:

A note to developers if they read this thread:

Adding section views symbols for end plates is halve working-section views are numbered not per sequence of selection, which is something we cannot give to a bridge fabricator.

For now, we will create section views without numbering, since a stringer has no more than 3-5 identical section views, it will be faster to have the section views created without the numbers and we will place the numbers, it is still a great time saver having the section views ready, these are usually done schematically.

Dev's-please-Add an option section views to be numbered in the order they are selected.

Thank you again.

Regards.

Hi Ilko,

yes, this is a very good idea, to add this in ModelRoleRules, so you don´t need to change this in connections or delete the grey frame to change this.
