cope one side of flange

Hi,

Hope someone can help me with this as i can't seem to find a solution on google.

I am trying to cope the top flange on a UB but I only want one side to be copped. I can only seem to either cope the top & bottom flange or the entire top flange depending on what orientation the UCS is in. Is there a specific tool for this that i am missing?

You can set your ucs to the top flange and draw a polygon for your cut out and use the advance steel cut to poly line

I think I ment cut to polygon in the beam modification tool bar

You use element contours , like rectangular, round etc, with the dialog is opitions to control the depth , these are activated via a check box, enter figures and these control the depth of the cut. The contour is placed relative to the system line and the xy plain of the UCS .

System line set to beam top, then UCS to top beam flange, use rectangular contour opition, drag/snap to size. The in properties select side for depth enter figure for depth.
In model there is Also a grip point for depth that can be adjusted.

size of cutout has grip points for selection and moving/resizing.

I have a similar issue; however I only want to trim the bottom flange.  I am an extreme AS beginner and am struggling to get a Shops set out.  I have to trim the bottom flange only on one side.  This direction you give works great, but it is trimming both the top & bottom flange.  Can you help figure out how to trim only the bottom flange?
