I cannot get thee handrail function to recognize concrete. It aborts.

Handrail Macro needs a beam not a concrete element.

Hi @jdk5225g 

 

put (dummy) beam in the location, create handrail based on, delete dummy beam (this will be delete the makro box) and add connection to the wall.

To amend what @bigcarl5000kg said, using "dummy" objects is not only useful in this case but in very many other situations. One such useful example is using plates to create a desired beveled edge. 😉
