BOM on drawing

Hi guy's,

When I put a BOM on a drawing I get "content might be inconsistent with the detail as the drawing style uses a complete model object selection and doesn't match the detail box limits"

See attached

Can someone please explain this?

Thanks

This is a standard warning message , when using a bom on an overview/ arrangement type drawing.

typically the view has been created using a viewport or camera with controlled depth, length width fields ( restricted) ,  but the style chosen for the drawing view is set to be the complete model or complete with Xref, under the drawing style object selection tab.

this can be overcome by adjusting the model object selection to only include selected area/ viewport.  This way the bom is then suppose to be restricted to the content contained within the view port.

Need a bit more help on this,

Don't know where I can type in these options ,Yes the drawing is a GA but I could do with step by step help.

Another thing, If I run out of vertical space is it possible to split the table horizontal?

Thanks

There is a way: use external bom export to excel and copy paste to drawings. Not smart but it works.

Hi @dave,

Thank you for posting on Advance Steel Forum 🙂

Here is a video showing where and how to change the overview drawing type (the "Model object selection":

Regarding the other question - BOM on multi-columns: currently there is no available option to split a BOM on drawing.

As @arkli2009 mentioned, you could create an external BOM and then insert it in the drawing.

Or you could explode the BOM on drawing to AutoCAD elements and then split the table using ACAD commands.

I know it is not ideal, you would need additional work and attention.

Maybe you could add a feature request in Advance Steel Idea Station for that.

Best regards,
Emy

To avoid the error use "Insert a  Detail List with just specific detail view" (with complete view of the model e.g. 3D view) or anything that all model elements are withing the boundary of the camera view box you created.
