Bolt Visible Color

I want to change the visible line color for my bolts to a different color so I can assign a separate line weight to them using my .ctb file. Is there a way to do this in some setting without having to go to each sheet and select all bolts and change the color that way? It would make my drawing production process go a lot faster and smoother.

This will require a modifiction to the drawing styles. Its not an easy thing to explain on the forum and can be quite complicated to find the correct style and where you need to change. I would suggest training on the subject or have your support representative look into it.

Below is a brief screencast on how to quickly modify it based on my setup.

Thanks Jonathan. You are right, that is quite complicated and cumbersome. I will attempt to contact Graitec and hopefully they will have a simpler solution.

Hi,

To change the colour of a bolt in the drawing, you need to go to the management tools>defaults> use the filter option for colour, this will goto drawing presentation > colour, look up the bolt element in the list and change the colour there to what you require.

When you look back in the drawing style under the presentation it said "default", with default set in the style it will use the colour set in the management tools.
This will work for arrangement drawings , providing you do not have the colour by layer option checked in the defaults profile. If this is set then the system will use the colour set by the layer in the model, as this is transferred if the use layers from model is also set in the defaults.

In this situation, you should only need to change the default colour in the MT settings.

Here is an alternative solution.

You can activate the "Use color ByLayer in overview drawings" default (located in the Management Tools, under Defaults > Drawing-Presentation > Colors) prior to creating your drawing.

Then you will have the same layer (and therefore the same color) for all the elements between the 3D model and the drawings, included for your bolts:

hi,

my last post,  got slightly mixed up there, ( was thinking about hole symbols, opps)  the actual default colour is coming from the Visible lines Default in the Management tools.  so when it is set to default in the drawing style for the bolts presentations line, it is looking at the visible lines colours set in MT.

so as previously mentioned you could change the colour via the DSM:

• Change the Colour under the Drawing Style manager and the change it within the presentation style, but if you do that, i would recommend that you create presentation rule specific to bolts and the colour, as changing the standard one will filter through the system to all presentations  that use the "VisiableHiddenSystem"   to do this you would use copy, not deep copy,  this copies the presentation rule and you can change what is then required inside this rule.

alternatively you could set the bolts to go onto a specific layer in the model and use the colour set in that layer.

to do this i would use two of the MT Default settings relating to layer transfer to the drawing from the model:

model layer for detail objects in over view drawings

colour by layer for visible lines.

result with these settings changes the bolt so the colour is driven by the layer and the layer from the model is also transferred. ( this only applies in overview drawing)

Philippe, thank you so much. That was exactly what I wanted! Making the visible colors in the model and drawing be the same color by layer worked perfectly.
