BEVEL RADIUS PLATE CORNER

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the bevel to travel around the radius on this plate? I thought it would work the same way as I have the HSS beveled but it doesn't seem to work.

Hi,

i think i have the same bug. If the corner radial dimension is smaller than the weld preparation  dpeths the bug occurs.

I recommend u change the edges to straihgt If the construction has no dynamic stress. If its dynamic maybe a round plate is the way to go. Maybe change the weld to I-shape if the thickness and WPQR allows it.

Its sad that u have to change the construction because your Computer Aided Software doesnt "Aid" u at all^^

Please see the attached pictures for visual representation of how I made these cuts. The plate shown is 1/2" thick 6" x 6" with 1/2" radiused corners, and the beveled edge is 1/4".



What I usually end up doing for those types of corners is to first create a new plate at the same angle of the bevel cuts in the edges. This is usually a thin plate, in this example it's 1/4" wide. I then bring that plate over the corner and create an element contour to cut the corner of the 1/2" plate. I then use Advance Copy to copy/rotate that element contour around the radius of the corner 6 times or so in 90 degrees. This method usually gets it close enough for our plasma table which can cut beveled edges in plates.

NOTE: Make sure you adjust your UCS appropriately for the polar array to rotate properly 😉
