Autodimensioning turn off

I have a model that requires a lot of changes but the drawings are already done. Every time I make a change and the drawing updates all of the autodimensions are added again and it just ruins the drawing. Is there a way I can turn this feature off to not ruin my hours/days/weeks of work done previously?

For the automatically updating dimensions, likely there is not just one that reappears. There are probably many there and they are just hidden until the "top" one is deleted by you. When one of those dimensions appears, try selecting it, then right clicking away and choosing "Select Similar". Remove any dimensions that you don't want to delete from your selection. You'll likely notice that there are a bunch of dimensions selected, when really there appears to only be one.

In this order: Delete all of them, then save and close the drawing. Open it back up, then update the detail. Those dimensions should no longer appear.

Thanks @Lewk_SGS , I will have a look at this methodology. However, I was hoping for something more permanent as the dimensions created by AS usually need a lot of rework or complete removal and manual correction. I would prefer that the software not insert them at all if possible. I was hoping it would be a simple settings or tick box change

The Auto dimensioning can be turned off in the drawing styles. Probably not advisable but can be done. Might rather be good to spend some time to alter the dim styles to suite your needs, unless its quite unique.

I would suggest to first make a backup of your data.

Also I would normally recommend some form of understanding of the drawing styles before you make some changes there. But in short, you can turn of the dimensions per view as shown below:

Thanks @Ignus.E , I will look into the drawing styles more and backup my data as recommended. This is just to temporarily not have to redo the dimensioning on a large number of drawings. My lack of knowledge here is a disadvantage but I will change that and do more research about the subject. Thanks again
