AS22-Column &Beams transfer between RVT & AdvanceSteel

Hello everyone,

got a issue with the link between RVT2022 & AdvanceSteel 2022

i'll use these terms :

> FF (fabrication form) : steel element ( column or beams) with steel element applied to them ( connection / weld / bolts)

> CF (classical form) : native steel element (no connections applied to them)

there my issues:

> Column orientation  :

For CF element when i export from RVT to AS, profiles are rotated to 90° in AS

for FF elements, good orientation in AS

See below:

REVT ColumnREVT ColumnAS columnAS column

> Beam with offset:

for CF element, when i export from RVT to AS, offset are in wrong value (ex: -20 is set to +20)

for FF elements, good offset set in AS

See below:

Revit BEAMSRevit BEAMS

AS BEAMSAS BEAMS

Orientation & offset seems to be related to the fabrication form.

Does anyone can reproduce this issue on his side ?

i attach the RVT22 model / the AS22 model / the .SMLX file

Hi, I have not tested your supplied file yet, but in terms of the 90 degree rotation i have the exact same problem. And actually since installing 2022 my 2021 version also does the rotation now.

hi @Ignus.E

thanks for feedback, but if you said this happening in 2021 version, it's a big problem of corruption.

hi again,

update from AutodeskSupport:

Columns with user section are rotated 90 or 180 degree in Advance Steel after import them from Revit...

but it isn't related to my problem, it is not user sections and i've tried with US AISC 14.1 U sections from the "load autodesk family" function in revit.

And problem is still present. see below:

it has to be fixed ASAP, and i've related the problem in the of  @Ignus.E  in the revit forum about possible corruption of previous version

Hi, Ive tested what you suggested and it solved my problem as well, the rotation as well as Revit not remembering the mapping.

Thanks, great find
