Hello there,

anyone encounter the same bug or feature that AS 2022 just freezes if u zoom in closely to a special part in realitic view? I attach the special part where it happens always. Any advice or workaround?

Maybe its just me and some update is missing. I have the following german version.

by opening the dwg, there's the dialog for showing proxys...how is the dwg created?
I mean there're about 800 3D solids in it, with a lot of exact contours.

After exploding the solids to "areas" it's a bit better.

Maybe it's a better way to use it as XREF?

And additional I copy the object in a new DWG and insert this as specialpart..work better too

Hi,

thanks for the quick reply. The special part was modeled in inventor.

I exported it as STEP, imported the STEP in AS, exploded all Blocks into 3D-Solids.

The problem is, i cant explode it any further because i need drawings. If the contours are areas, AS wont show them in the drawing. In addition, i have special drawing styles, where i swap between showing special parts and not showing them. Thats why i dont want to use xrefs either. Didnt found a way to create drawing styles bound to cameras which show xrefs.

It would look like that.

Can u zoom freely in the Special Part without AS freezing?

Accepted solution

if you use areas instead of solilds these will also be shown in drawings when using as the specialparts.

Problem will be: the contruction is not free of clashes I think.

Hi,

i tested it. Left is the special part with areas and regions, right is with 3D-solids. The difference is huge.

AS has its problems with round contours. U can have 3000 plates and beams in a single model without problems, but 1 circular object and AS just dies...

Anyway your screencast shows me that the problem is on my end, probably my hardware. If i swap the graphic performance to middle mode it wont freeze anymore. Could have tested this earlier i guess...

Thanks for the quick help.
