There are other options similar to AS, but IMO AS will remain because Autodesk will score its OWN GOAL, a huge one, as it is Worldcup final with penalties if they retire AS.
Their target is a centralized model in Revit.
Which is a good idea overall.
But since less than 1% of design engineers provide models for the steel frame,
Detailers using Advance Steel will be the ones who actually be providing it, not the opposite.
This is the only way their idea can succeed.
I hope they read this and think about it:
Is it better to wait for a design engineer to provide model for the steel (99% don't use Revit and will never be, they do not include model in their price unless Revit is completely implemented),
or to rely on steel detailers, who understand the job and can provide 100% accurate models, the price for which is already included in the bid.
Autodesk will lose big if they retire AS.
