You need to recreate the drawing selecting theese parts...:(

When you open the Document Manager, it will highlight which drawings need to be updated. You can then "Force Update" which will update the drawing and not change the Revision, or you can "Revise" the drawing, and it will ask you what the Revision will be (A,B,C etc)

h,

it is what Zhukov telling you, when you used "selected items" to make a overview drawing you have to make a new selection set when you add new items.
I personal made a copy of a existing drawing style and rebuilt it to "selected area" instead off selected items.

This issue has come up previously.

IMO AS needs a select option in the CAMERA function. Fullstop.

Its not on, having to recreate drawings, or in cameras

everything is turned back on if reset. Not good enough.

I know those will say incorperate model roles but

then we have to start editing drawing styles.

Not sure if I'm recreating what the original poster is asking. What I have done is

  • Select items
  • "Drawing Styles"
  • Selected a style (for my test I did "4 - Eng Detail - Pickbox - Labels")
  • Create Drawing
  • Added/modified members
  • Drawing Manager now tells me that my original drawing needs updating

Tomislav your workflow is not the same as OP. Try doing the same workflow, but use instead 4 - Eng 3D View - Objects selected drawing style.

Hi,

In the UK install there is a model role called "Not Visible". Any parts with this model role are automatically not shown in any GA drawings. It is pre-defined this way in the GA drawing styles. I am not sure if you can do the same in other installations.

If you create the GA with a camera cropped as tightly as possible to the desired area, then after the view is created you can go into the drawing, select unwanted parts in the view and delete them. Then update the view and everything behind the parts (within the camera range) will show. The parts you delete are remembered through updates and revisions so you shouldn't have to delete them again every time you update. However, any NEW parts that appear within scope of the camera WILL automatically be included in the view on the next update. You can also adjust the range of the camera if you need to.

If you need to restore the deleted parts into the view then you can go to Advance View Properties and there is a tick box to do this in that dialog.

I hope that helps.

Thx Aleck for pointing us in the direction of using cameras for setting up our views for GA's.

Now how can we get AutoCAD blocks and solids to be displayed in the drawing view (i.e. non-Advance Steel geometry & solids that are within the camera extents)?

Thx!

just select them when you use a camera or detail

Thx gvm.  Yes, we've been doing that with success.

But how can we get a new AutoCAD block or solid added to the model within the camera extents to be displayed after the drawing has been created?  Seems like AutoCAD blocks & solids must be selected at the time of drawing creation for them to be displayed.  Otherwise you have to re-create the view?

Thx!
