I'm a land surveyor, I do construction staking. I get invited to all kinds of jobs through this site, it's great. But it's time consuming to bid the same job for the same price, with the same qualifications and insurances to each individual general contractor. From my perspective, this site has great potential for sub contractors but falls short. Ideally the owner or developer would post the job, sub contractors in the area would be notified and have an opportunity to place a bid for their services, including their qualifications and insurances. Then the general contractors could incorporate those bids into their final bid. Of course there needs to be opportunities for price changes due to addendums and such. Right now I have to wait until the bid due date is nearly elapsed in order to not have to re submit my bid due to a change that does not affect me. If I submit a bid when the job first arrives I have to re submit over and over again, for every addendum. In short I just want to look at the plans and post a bid, list my qualifications, and be done, maybe even get the job.
