Specifications-Markups

There are currently no markup tools when reviewing specifications.  Would be helpful to be able to add notes, link RFI responses that relate to specifications, etc.

For example, I recently had an RFI response that changed items on drawings but also what is called out in the specs.  When a team member refers back to the specs later on, they need to be able to see a note in the appropriate place that notifies them of the change.

It would be extremely valuable for General Contractors to have access to a mark-up tool specifically for specifications. During the bid process, addendum responses often modify only a single paragraph rather than the entire spec book. Without a way to annotate or update specifications directly, teams risk referencing outdated or incomplete information. A built-in mark-up feature would ensure that all team members are working from the most current and accurate specifications, improving coordination and reducing errors.

Love this suggestion - we asked our last PMIS to do this for years!

Hi all, I'm the PM for the Specifications tool and agree that markups are absolutely necessary for timely communication during construction. I'm working on the plan to get markups into our roadmap, stay tuned!

@coffeyj , glad ot hear this is being worked on. Is there an approximate time frame when these markup updates will be rolled out?

Agree.  See JE Dunn's comments on the topic:

In ACC Drawings, there is a way to make markups on the sheet and link that markup to an RFI. This indicates to anyone on the project team that there has been something that changed within that markup, and the hyperlink to the RFI then directs them to that change. However, we cannot do this in ACC Specifications.

Description

Request to add markup ability to specs AND RFI referencing so changes are shown within specs for project teams and for as-builts.

Request RFIs be able to pinned directly to the portion of the spec section that they impact. (Similar to Sheets functionality)

Currently the RFI can only be referenced, which by default is only visible in the far right column after scrolling, and does not indicate the area of the spec that is being modified.

Business Case

Lack of RFI visibility in specs increases risk that changes will not be incorporated.

Is there any update on getting markups equal to available in sheet for specifications? Is there a target date for this to be released?
