Contract SOV line item numbering

Currently, in a Contract SOV there is no way to number the line items. In other document types we can use {index} or {number} but for some reason, there is no line item reference code for the SOV items in a Contract. 

Having this number is very common in documents in use outside of the ACC system, and allows for easy reference to specific line items. It would be very useful to have a simple way to reference each line in an SOV with a unique number like the {index} or {number} code in other document types.

Not having consistent line item numbers on the SOVs makes comparing invoice to commitment very difficult and slows our approvers down a lot. This would be a huge improvement for us to be able to pull this information through the API.

Cost items are numbered sequentially relative to the all cost items when added, then shown sequentially relative to the change order, hence number or index options in documents.

That is a totally different data entry to an SOV so works differently.

You cannot enter an item in an SOV without adding a code, so is not completely unstructured like an excel sheet, where it totally makes sense row number is very useful.

To help us better understand this request, please clarify why you need an additional line number and can't use the code field as a reference when it is user defined and mandatory?
