Specifications, Current Version Order

Build Specifications assigns the most recently uploaded version as the "Current" version rather than deferring to the issuance date. This logic should be changed to mimic Build Sheets, which assigns the "Current" version based on issuance date.

Attached are screenshots from project 220213 that show a version dated Apr 12, 2024 as being more current than a version dated Jun 14, 2024.

Hi @tmakar ,

It sounds like the issue might be related to pulling information from different version sets. In Build Specifications, if a version set is no longer up-to-date and you’d like to remove it, it needs to be manually removed from the version sets list. This will ensure that only the most recent issuance dates are displayed as the “Current” version.

Additionally, double-check your publish logs to confirm that the version set and code information are being set correctly. This can help ensure the latest versions align as expected based on issuance date. Let me know if this helps or if you need further assistance!

Thank you for the feedback; however, it does not address that the version set with the most current issuance date is not assigned as the 'Current' specification.

Hi @tmakar ,

In this case, the issue likely arises from the way version sets are being prioritized in Autodesk Build. Here’s why you’re seeing the older "HOS EP01 (Substations)" issuance date appear instead of the more recent "HOS Detailed Design (DD)" set:

  1. Version Set Order: Autodesk Build doesn’t automatically prioritize by issuance date alone when determining the "Current" version. Instead, the current version is typically the most recently added file within a version set, regardless of issuance date. If both version sets are active and available in the Specifications tool, Build may display content from the older HOS EP01 set if that set is still considered active or was last uploaded.

  2. Table of Contents Display: The Specifications tool sometimes defaults to displaying the first available version set in the table of contents, especially if it hasn’t been manually removed. Since both version sets are still in the system, the tool might be reading the HOS EP01 set’s data first if it was initially established as the primary set.

  3. Solution - Remove or Archive the Older Set: To ensure that "HOS Detailed Design (DD)" is prioritized, try archiving or removing the older "HOS EP01 (Substations)" set. This way, Autodesk Build will recognize the "DD" set as the active version, and the table of contents should pull from the latest design. You can manage these settings directly in the Specifications tool by selecting the older set and choosing to delete or archive it.

By cleaning up older version sets, you should see the most recent issuance date displayed correctly in the table of contents. Let me know if this helps or if you have any other questions!

Hi everyone - this improvement went live today. The Specifications tool now follows the same logic as the Sheets tool in determining what is current by the Issuance Date. Note, this logic change will only be applied to new project.
