Add Categories in the new A360 Drive
We have numerous folders set up per job for various contractors & catergorise them so that we can veiw all the folders related to one job. Would like to see this in the new format.
I handle a variety of clients. Each client has several ongoing projects. So, say I have 15 projects going on. 5 projects are categorized as "Client A" Projects, 5 are categorized "Client B" Projects and the last five are under Client "C". That way, if I'm specifically handling client B today, or need to quicly access a folder of a certain project tied to Client B, then I hit the client B category and easily find the project folder and go into the sub-folders from there. Usually the file structure for each project is the same so everytime I go into any folder, there is familiarity. I say all this because I found for myself that categorizing by client > project > sub-folders has worked well so far for managing all items pertaining to each project. It's almost like a template file structure that is tailored as needed.
Regarding "knowing where you are":
It would be nice, while working in autocad, to have a really good way to know when you are working on a file that is on the drive or on your computer. Sometimes, I think I'm editing or working an a file that is on my computer, only to realize I worked on the file that is in the drive.
The "bread crumb" file location, I see, is on the top of the screen, but it seems to be not so obvious to me sometimes, if I'm in the drive or not. A big ol' glaring "you're working in the drive!" would be helpful. All I need sometimes is to see "APP DATA ...." or C:\... but most of the time I only see the main file name like "cadfile.dwg" and I can't expand it to find out where I really am working unless I hit saveas or properties.
I’ve been using 360 for last year or two and have quite a number of projects on it. With each of the consultants also sharing folders with us there the list is quite long. We use the categories to filter by project and then by discipline within the project. The lack of being able to filter in the new 360 is a big step backwards. It’s something I’d really like to see reinstated.
I am working in a project which currently consist of 20 consultants at the moment. We open up 20 folders to each particular consultant base on the trades handling. Example of 3 Architects handling specified towers in a project and 5 ID fit-out consultants with 3 Civil and Structural consultants and so forth.
If the new UI could bring back this "Categories" feature it would be great with instant filter out the related parties. These current 20s are only preliminary on consultants and the contractors are yet to be on board.
All above comments make sense, I have multiple active projects and it is much easier to sort files by assigned categories, two or three tier categories (files belong to one or more categories)
