A360 Drive is empty and constantly in sync.

My local drive is empty although i have 13.4Gb free of my 25Gb available and the icon in the tray says it is syncing.

I have now left my computer on for 48 hours and it is still saying the same.

I have windows 8.1 installed.

can anyone help?

Hi Simon,

This does seem a bit odd, lets see if we can get this figured out for you.

1. Are you sharing any of your A360 Drive Folders, or is anyone sharing any A360 Drive folders with you? There are a few scenarios that might cause this listed below that we should check first.

  • Did you or anyone either delete or upload a bunch of new files from or into a shared online A360 Drive web folder? That could force a lengthy sync if it's trying to replicate the same condition to your local A360 Drive folders.
  • Did you recently delete a bunch files from your local A30 Drive folders (since they're now empty) that would again be trying to sync that same condition to your online web A360 Drive Folders? This too could cause the same long sync cycle.

2. Now a few more basic operational questions.

  • Please tell us which version of sync you have installed? go to the A360 Desktop icon in your system tray>right click>select preferences>version.
  • Please send a screenshot of what your local sync folders look like so that we can see them? again, go to A360 Desktop icon in your system tray>right click>Open A360 Drive.
  • Can you tell us what types of files you're dealing with, created from which product(s) and version(s)?
  • Have you tried to shut your system completely down, (clear your browser history) to see if the sync operation just picks right back up where it left off after the reboot?

Hi Brett,

I have A360 drive installed on two machines.

One is a laptop with windows 7 with version 5.2.3.1000, this machine is
fine. All files are up to date and I can see all of the folders etc.

My other machine (the problem child!) is a desktop pc with windows 8.1 with
version 6.0.3.1100 (recently updated with my subscription to 2016 version).

I do not share any folders with any other person.

All of the folders are up to date on the laptop, which would suggest there
is not a large amount to sync.

Most of the information on the drive is .dwg created from Autocad LT and
Revit LT

I have tried to log out on both machines, shut them both down and restarted
just the 8.1 pc, then logged in to if that would rectify the problem.

Regards

Hi Simon,

On your last statement, you say that you shut all down and then restarted, however, i'm not sure if that fixed the issue or not here :). Would you please confirm so that I know we still need to assist?

Hi Simon,

Let's have you try the below to see if we can narrow this down a bit.

From your desktop pc machine, can we try to see if SYNC is working manually, without doing a saveas from either of your products?

  • Manually open up your A360 Drive folders on your machine and create a new folder (name it what you want)
  • Manually drag and drop a couple of your ACAD LT files into that folder.
  • Rightclick on the A360 Desktop icon, and do a "SYNC Now" to force the sync.
  • Log into your online Web A360 Drive folders to see if those 2 new files and the folder get created/synced to the online location. (look for the green checkmarks for confirmation)

Then if that works, go to your laptop and force a SYNC Now the same way you did above from the desktop pc, to see if that folder and files get synced back down to your laptop local A360 Drive folders.

Final thought, in case you didn't know, Sync and Revit are NOT connected like ACAD/LT and Sync are, which would mean that SYNC won't automatically sync to your local Revit files to your online web A360 Drive location. You can however, manually drag and drop your Revit files into your local A360 drive folders and then Sync them to the online A360 Drive folders. That will work.

Let me know how this goes for you,

I can create a folder in the local A360 drive which appears on the web
drive.

I have managed to drag a .dwg file into the folder on the local drive, but I
cannot sync now because the drive is in sync.

The file I have dragged in to the local folder does not appear in the online
drive.

The other laptop also shows the new folder but does not show the file that
was dragged into it.

Hi Simon, can you try the below steps?

  • It will force A360 Drive to re build that entire folder structure including the DB file.  The reboot is important because there will be multiple A360 files running that will not allow you to rename the folder.
  • Right click on the A360 Desktop icon in the system tray.
  • Click on “Preferences”
  • Uncheck the “Start A360 Desktop when I log on to Windows” option.
  • Sign out of the sync component.

  • Restart the computer and use File Explorer to go to the following location.
  • C:\Users\<your user login>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Sync
  • Rename “Autodesk Sync” to Autodesk Sync OLD
  • Reboot the system one more time.
  • Right click on the A360 Desktop icon in the system tray and “Sign in

 sync sign out2.png

  • Click on “Preferences” and re-enable “Start A360 Desktop when I log on to Windows” option.
  • Go to AutoCAD LT 2016 and open up a file.
  • Do a SAVEAS and select A360 Drive Cloud option in the upper left corner.

sync sign out3.png

  • Now see if it starts to sync.  If not, right click on the A360 Drive icon in the system tray and click “Sync now”
  • NOTE: If it’s working, you will see it say “Syncing…” and the icon will be spinning.

  • If it worked on the PC side, you will see green checkmarks.

thanks let us know if this works,

Brett,

I tried the steps set out, did not work.

I have however fixed it.

Basically taking what you had told me to do, but manually rebuilt the entire
folder.

I removed all of the files and folders from the online drive by placing them
in the trash.

I then restarted the computer and synchronised the folder to ensure it was
empty.

I restored each folder individually back on the online drive and then "sync
now" on the A360 desktop.

I have checked the other laptop and the folder is exactly the same.

Thanks for helping me through this, it has been a pain.

One last thing, do I need to rename the folder in the C:\Users\
login>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Sync Rename "Autodesk Sync OLD" back
to the original?

Regards

Hi Simon,

Thanks for letting us know that effort worked for you. I'm sorry that you had to do all that manually, however, I am most glad that all is well on both your machines now.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Just to add to what Brett replied to. You do not need to rename the folder. A360 Drive built a new folder for you and so you can delete the old one now. Renaming is just safer than deleting when testing out these issues.

Thanks for sharing with us what resolved this for you.
