Twist a profile?

Hello, I'm trying to twist a profile in Inventor. The idea is to rotate
the profile while it is extruded down a straight path. I have tried
using the coil command, but it keeps giving me a "failed to create
spring edge" error. The profile is a circle with three triangles
extending from it every 120 degrees.

Thanks for any help and suggestions.
Ben

You will need to make copies of the profile on different workplanes rotated
about 10 degrees each time. Then loft them all together.

There's one solution in INV CF using coils.
I haven't changed the file but possible pattern coils instead of 3 off? I
don't know what effect this will have give it a go?

Hmm.. I tried that, but I rotated 45 degrees and it didn't work, even
with point mapping.

Originally I was using the coil command with an axis at the center of
the circle in my profile. Offsetting the axis by .00001 got rid of the
singularity error. So that worked okay in the end.
