Hello all,
I am using IV 2012. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? the mag liner attached image is realistic visual style with ray trace on. The surface material is annodized red from the Autodesk materials library. I seem to be getting an unwanted camo effect. The scale slider has no effect. I get it with a lot of the materials (polished brass etc.). It is also present on polished steel but less noticeable on spring in the second image. I don't think it has anything to do with hardware.
Thanks

Could you post the file in question or a sample file with the same material and color style applied? This way we can review the styles and material.
Thanks for the reply. Attached are two test parts, one with annodized red material and one with polished. I have "realistic appearence" checked, ray trace on. The artifacts only show with ray trace on. I thought it may be scale but the scale slider for realistic changes nothing for these materials. Also attached is a save as render to show what I see.
Did you ever get a response / solution / anything for this issue? I have the same problem. I can't get any decent results from raytracing because everything comes out looking speckled / blotchy.
The attached image would actually be usable if everything didn't look like it just weathered a sandstorm.
Open a model, then go to your Hardware Tab in the Applications Options and run the Diagnostics. See what Feature Level is displayed.
Have you set your Ray-Tracing level to it's highest setting. Large models will take a long time to "render" out at the higher settings.
It looks like you are using the "Interactive" quality level. This is good for small models and working in "real-time". The first image is at the highest setting and is only about 50% complete after 356 seconds. The second capture is with the interactive setting and only took 4 seconds.
