AutoCAD LT 2014

Hello again.

Now trying Autocad LT 2014, now on the windows 7 PC, HP Z620, quaddro FX 2000.

Multiple problems/annoying things found (i think).

There are still no Certified Drivers for AutoCAD LT available, hardware accelleration?!

When i try to work with a drawing that has multiple viewports, it becomes "laggy", as did 2012 and 2013. Driver problem, hardware accelleration?

when opening a blanc template and copy/paste 1 block in this template, it is terrebly slow, not to work with. in the right bottom corner there is a message "unrecognized" when panning or zooming. after panning or zooming it's gone. (see printscreen)

can anyone help me?

attached:

drawing with 1 block, problems with panning / zooming

printscreen unrecognized "something"?

hardware performance log.

Sounds like a continuation of whatever caused the other two versions to slow down: I thought you decided to stick with LT2011 in WinXP 64bit? Change your mind?

Video card drivers are certified at Autodesk's discretion, not based on what you have or own: sorry but hardware acceleration is not a universal feature available to everyone (I don't have it on my laptop, just the desktop for example).

@Pendean

Sticking to 2011 on my "old" machine, but  i'm just trying to get 2014 to work properly.

It seems odd to me that when Autodesk intoduced the 3dconfig command in autocad LT, that's when the "problems" started, even on the Z620, quaddro FX 2000.

It seems to me it should run smoothly on this machine.

And i figure when someone makes a new programm that users don't have to turn off a lot of "add-ons" to make it run smoothly.

I also understand that when you put in more features the software could run a bit slower, but have you checked my attached dwg? 1 block (wich contains several annotative hatches and visibility states) in a new template and 2014 goes bananas....

Maybe i'm excpeting to much, but people who draw wit LT might be interested in speed also, not only new features.

Do you have AutoCAD LT 2011 installed? could you open a drawing of yours with reasonable filling and in the layout tab, lets say 15 Viewports, go to the layout tab and the only thing to do is "pan" the layout. in 2011 it works like a charm, in 2012, 2013 and 2014 it's very "laggy".

Is it that i'm excpeting to much? i just don't want it to get worse, i want it to get better.

anyway, thanx for the reply in advanced, pherhaps it will be ok.

LT 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 installed, 2-year-old Win7 64bit Pro, no hardware acceleration active on 12-13-14 (like LT2011, which doesn't offer it): not seeing much of a performance difference between the last three.

LT since 2012 is like AutoCAD 2012 when it comes to hardware acceleration settings and other features and issues.

I also turn off all the 'new' pop-up and informational items that mean nothing to me (except the most basic of DYNMODE settings) in all four versions: this includes rollover tips, tooltips, quick properties (use PROPERTIES), and selection cycling (prefer ol-dschool method). I also turn OFF the Layer palette, and have no transparency settings on any of the palettes.

Just because a feature is there is no reason to turn it on if it does nothing new or help my friend.

But you see difference between 2011 and the rest ?
Message 6 of 63

Yes, so does everyone else on the planet. It's not that much slower if you run the newer versions with the same features/limitations as LT2011, and a much newer PC/OS than WinXP (64bit or not) may do wonders.

You are comparing apples to oranges. Even if they come from the same Orchard 🙂

I'm having the same issues when panning and zooming - its almost unusable and I also get the "unreconized" message pop up on the tray at the same time. I have 2013 also installed and have no issues at all.

Hello

If you have a NVidia Quadro Series, I think that the latest ODE Driver is v311.50 !?

http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro-tesla-grid-winxp-x32-311.50-whql-driver.html

But I don't konw if it is available for an OLD Win XP Pro SP2 64 bits ???

Microsoft will stop completely support for Win XP in April 2014 (If I remember well)

Please could you switch to something "more modern" like Windows Seven !

Because Software Editors are only doing MINIMUM tests on good OLD Win XP Pro SP3 32 bits ...

And as far as I know, it's ULTRA-MINIMUM Tests on Win XP Pro SP2 64 bits version ...

So Good Luck, Bye, Pat

So, based on the swuggestions in the responses above before your post, what did you try?
LT2014 is too new, has no patches and no supported vid card drivers yet from Autodesk.

Nvidia GT 610 4mb RAM

System Memory 8mb RAM

2013 flies along with this spec

Megabytes or Gigabytes?

I hope the latter. Your phone has more power if Megabytes.

The Nvidia GeForce GT 610 is 1 Gig or memory so that is good.

Hardware acceleration On or Off in the LT 2014?

You are correct...

It seems to only happen once autocad has been running for a while...

oh - and I have tried both on and off

That is an interesting observation: it only starts after LT2014 has been running for a while.
So does restarting LT2014 fix it (for a while)?
Or do you need to restart Windows first?

Come on Guys.

Brand new Computers, windows 7, Grapic card is outstanding and LT runs like Sh*t....

In my case the " problems"  started when autocad LT added " 3D config".

It became from working fast , to waiting and waiting..

LT 2009 : some problems

LT 2010 : little problems

LT 2011 : no problems

LT 2012 : speed problems

LT 2013 : speed problems

LT 2014 : speed and other problems.

I don't inderstand Pendean's reply as " so does everybody else on the planet". as i understand it looks like i'm the only one complaining about the speed. as i mentioned HP Z620 windows 7 with nvidia 2000 is MORE THAN QUALIFIED to do the job (i think).

Ans if i shut down all the features in the new LT could't i just keep my old LT?

Sure, the new features are Cool and if they work properly i am sure i would use them.

Simple Question:

Does anyone get the "unrecognized" message ?? it seems it occurs when you copy paste an existing block in a new template. layer problem? annotative problem??

I've reported the issue to Autodesk and it appears that there is a fault in the software and is being looked at....

And I get the unreconized message when panning and zooming

Running LT 2014 here without issue.

Even migrated settings and all went well.

AEC or other Vertical content perhaps?

Message 20 of 63

You seem to have many more problems than this thread is discussing: you may want to start your own since keeping it here will simply help getting it lost.
Running 2014 with none of the reported issues, but I don't think that rules out you having them, you just need to help us replicate your isses.
So start a new thread and write your last set of issues in bullet form.
