Tips for "cutaway" style render that could be animated? [arnold]

I dont really know how exactly to call what Im trying...

The posted images will help with it.

The general Idea is to be able to replicate effects seen on videogames, mostly related to RPGs, being some Diablo or Fallout (the CRPGs) [To clarify this, on said games one character moves on a isometric environment and the walls gets hidden around the character to be able to see the surronding environment]

* Fallout 2 example -

(notice the player character near the door showing the behaviour im trying to replicate)

So in resume, I developed a modular set of pieces (meant to be a subterranean area) and I would like to know if there is any method I could try to "create a bubble" around a certain area that maybe uses a shape to "cut" the elements so it can be seen through them.

Images are an early version of the pieces (however will help on see how the scene is composed) and one render closer to completition (but with hidden elements to get the "cutout" effect)

*Note, While not prioritary, I use said elements as Instances... I guess some methods may require copies instead instances.
