Simple question about UnwrapUVW Modifier

Hello,

I wanted to get a simple planar projection from an shader with Ramp on a object.

It seems a bit cumbersome and weird in 3dsMax:

I set the Map channel on 2 and used also a Unwrap UVW Modifier on Map channel 2.

 

However, when I  create a planar mapping, nothing happens, the ramp is not projected through the object.

(Also not in render)

I am normally used from Maya, when I move  the projection plane, I can see exactly what happens, but here nothing happens, the mesh shows random results.

For such a simple use try the UVW Map modifer. Here you can even animate that gizmo.

I still wonder, why this did not work with UnwrapUVW... If this is an "expected behaviour" or kind of a bug...

Try to select all polygons and then apply the planar mapping
