Setting up rendering farm for Arnold 3Ds Max 2022.

Hi!

Im trying to find out how to set up a small render farm for Arnold 3Ds Max 2022.

I have;

- one server,

- one workstation were I do my work inside 3Ds Max

- two other computers.

In total 4 computers that I want to send rendering work to. It is important that I use the Arnold render.
Is this possible? When I browse around the internet I found out that I need to use a 3Ds Max installation on each of the computers and then backburner. Is this true? Is there anybody has done it properly and want to share the process of it?

Many thanks!

Hi

  • You need one Arnold license for each machine that will render (so, you need four Arnold licenses).
  • 3ds Max has to be installed on each machine, but you don't need 3ds Max licenses for machines that will only do batch rendering (aka command-line rendering).
  • You can use Backburner, or any other render manager (such as Deadline or Royal Render).
