Same material on different objects and different rendering result

New to 3ds Max, tried to render some parts created by Inventor.

I'm using Arnold, applied one material to 3 different objects, one sphere, one box and one inventor created part.

The sphere is glossy while the other two objects looks absolutely not shinny at all.

what makes this happen?

I think are reflecting, but due to the camera angle is hard to say. One way to check is by using the specular AOV. Open the AOV window

Then use the AOV wizzard to add the AOVS, make sure to select the option Separate

Then open the Arnold Render View

And select the Specular AOV

This should tell if you have any asset that isn't correctly reflect light

Hey thanks for the reply.

I have tried what you mentioned.

rendering image showing below.

Seems like, only the sphere is reflecting light in the scene.

Can you provide me that scene for testing?

I don't see any problems here. A standard Max box has infinitely sharp corners and therefore cannot reflect anything there. If you want reflecting corners, you may either add a Chamfer Modifier to the box or add a Round Corner shader to the normal channel of the material.

I think setting a HDRI as environment could help on notice better how are the reflections working...

However certainly on that last images things look strange, it almost looks like the sphere would be having a metallic value or some kind of coat activated.

*note, also make sure to have the faces facing properly, weird effects like this may be a cause of inverted normals (however would be very strange on such simple shapes)
