Rendering a complex surface as one undivided surface

I have made this surface consisting of three parts which in reality is undivided. I have put all the polygons in the same smoothing group though the rendering result is what u see in the picture. How can I make this surface be rendered as one?

It looks like your normals may be flipped.  Make sure they are all facing the same direction.  Also, to properly smooth between faces the surfaces must be part of the same object and share an edge (vertices welded between them).

From the renderings I have done so far I see that the renderer wants to describe the geometry of the objects and ignores lighting conditions. For example in the picture I show you it has on purpose divided theese two objects because there is a small (unimportant) geometrical difference. I dont want the renderer to take such initiatives because, to make a decent render, I ll have to design the whole model again. Any ideas?
