Render to texture turns black

Hello,

So I'm having a render to texture problem using scanline

If i make a cube and use the existing UVs that i created = WORKS

If i use automatic unwrap on that same cube = WORKS

If i use my specific object and use existing UVS that i created = DOESN'T WORK (turns black)

If i use automatic unwrap on my specific object = WORKS

Why is it turning black on my existing UVS for the specific object i modeled. I have tried everything. Xforming the object...xforming uvs.... transfering UVS save/load (which doesn't work by the way). I have made a snapshot of the object into a MESH. Nothing works.

Please enlighten me

Regards

Did you ever figure this out?

I'm having literally the same problem, in Max 2014. I have a high-poly object and low-poly version of that object. Putting a Projection mod onto the lo-poly, picking the hi-poly, and baking whatever type of map results in a black render. Drawing a simple box around the hi-poly and tossing a Projection mod onto the box and rendering works fine. But the original lo-poly shape refuses to bake the hi-poly.

EDIT: aha, I fixed my own problem. I forgot that my UV shells were outside the 0-1 UV box. They WERE within another box to the upper right (1-2?), but there were no UV shells w/in 0-1 at all. I would think the render should work regardless, but when I moved the shells back into 0-1, the render suddenly worked. OP: if your UVs are w/in 0-1 already, then I don't know what to tell you. 😕

I've had this a few times before, and the solution always turns out the UV's were not in the main UV1 space (they were offset into the other UV space). We originally had it in work in 2012 and it took days to figure out! I had the problem today and remember back to then. 🙂

Moving them back 1 unit into the centre had it rendering.
