not rendered parts of a pointcloud

Rendering a pointcloud with max 2017 with mental ray there are small part of the point cloud which are not rendere also this part is visible in the camera viewport (screenshot). I have made a animated camera which is flying throug the point cloud.

Black in one frame some frames before this part is rendered quite well.

Do you have any ideas why this happens?

Thank you.

Hi felix.horn,

I would recommend:

  • Reduce Glossy slider values in the render frame window.
  • Verify Autodesk Pointcloud Material is applied to the pointcloud.
  • Avoid using default lighting , add Real lights with the correct intensities and add an exposure control.
  • Example: Mental Ray Mental Ray Omni with  Mental Ray Photographic or Logarithmic exposure.

Thank's

I could solve the problem with changing the setting within the Point Cloud Objects rollout.
Here i swichted the Level of Detail Setting into Fixed in Rendering and choose a Level of Details of 2.
Now the frame is rendered completely.

Strange is that before only at the top some blocks of date were not loaded during rendering.

It might be a problem of clipping.

Thank you.

cheers,

felix
