Hello all!
My name is Jose and I am a beginner in the 3d max/vray world. In one of my scenes I am trying to create a led video wall, with a movie playing on it. I took as a reference a real world model : winvision air 9mm.The camera is fixed in front of the video wall. That makes creating the video wall really easy as it is just a plane. I applied to it a standard vray material with the image sequence loaded in the diffuse channel. The problem comes when I want the correct look of the led screen in the final render. I am playing a ten seconds movie on the video wall (loaded as image sequence). The camera is at 20 meters from the video wall, so it is not possible to see the physical pixels ( they are around 2mm and spaced between them 9mm). But in all my references you can tell the pixels are there, although it is a very subtle impression. That's what I'd like to achieve in my final render, that subtle impression of being able to see the individual pixels composing the led wall. What I tried so far:
- I created the pixel matrix using a matrix of 512x512 small planes, and applied to it a vray light material in which I loaded the image sequence. The cons are that it increases a lot the polygon count of the scene and the render comes out with a lot of noise on the video wall surface.
- I tried to create and opacity mask In postproduction. I can not find the way to create an exact 512x512 matrix with 9mm gap between the 'pixels'.
If any of you have any idea about how achieve a realistic led screen wall it would be greatly appreciated. Anyways thank you for your time and I hope I will collaborate more often from now on on this amazing community. Cheers!
P.D. In the pictured attached the led wall looks really dark because I plan to adjust brightness/contrast...of the image sequence in postproduction (I used natron). I guess I possible solution to my problem is to also create that "led screen feeling" on post as well, although I don't know how to go about it....
