Ground plain texture 'appears' to move when Keyframing Camera Zoom & Focus

Could be a post for another category but just in case its more of a general phyical camera setting , I'll start here... As you can see in the video attached, the rocks 'appear' to be moving when i keyframe the zoom/move the Physical Camera.. (Vray Physical Camera)... they are definitely not as I have triple checked to see if any assets are keyframed including the ground texture.. it appears to be a camera focus bug/issue.. i have attempted raising the camera, (not the target) as well as attaching the rocks to the ground plain but makes no difference... can anyone suggest any setting i play with to remove this annoying unwanted illusion?....

Cheers in advance! 🙂

That is certainly a new one and an odd one. Curious...

I have a few questions.

1. Does it happen with other kinds of cameras?

2. Is your ground an 'Infinite' plane?

3. Can you upload the file to play with?

@RobH2  Hi 👋 ..

1. Does it happen with other kinds of cameras?:

I havent tested other camera's since using the Vray renderer,  I wanted to keep it Vray as much as possible as I am more aquainted with DOF/motion blur/focus settings..

Though you make a good point... if i can get all settings replicated using just Max's default Phys-Camera, I may yield better results!..?.

2. Is your ground an 'Infinite' plane? :

No it isnt.. Just using a standard Max Plane with Edit Poly & Displace modifiers on top

3. Can you upload the file to play with?:

Sure can! 😊

I'll play with it and see what I get. I need the textures so that it's apples-to-apples when I test. Can you uplead the surface texture map?

I was able to reproduce the apparent sliding oddity. So it's likely it's not some OS, video card or machine related problem.

The task now is to find out what's causing it. Here are a few things I'd suggest you try in an effort to see what's causing it.

1. Render with a different type of camera

2. turn off all DOF and Blur effects

3. Turn off all Displacement, both material related and modifier related.

Try to get a basic and normal render that does not slide. Then  enable your more complex effects and matrials one-at-a-time and render to find out which one injects the problem. Then  start playing with that effect and iron it out.

I tried rendering with the Max Phyisical Camera instead, replicating the settings as well as disabling the Displacement modifier and no difference.. Rebuilding the vray material was the last thing I tried.. With the old material, I had the diffuse map tiling set to .001 X,Y.. !?... changed it to 1.0 and its working fine now 😊

Glad it's working now. I had a feeling it was releated to the surface material or displacement.
