Frame buffer problem: Clone Rendered Viewport or Copy Image won't open image.

I am having the following problem with the frame buffer: If I render a frame in the Rendered Frame Window, I am unable to save the result. If I click "Clone Rendered Viewport" or "Copy Image", Max won't open image or let me save it. Any assistance will be much appreciated! I'm running Max 2016-64bit.

I have not come across this problem, so cannot offer any solution, just a workaround. That is that the 'usual' way to save a render is via the "Render Output" "Save File" option.

Can you explain the issue a little more?  Is the Save button missing, or is it kicking back an error when you try to save?  What format are you trying to save to, and where?

Thank you for getting back to me.
The buttons are all there, but the Copy Image and Clone Rendered Frame
Window don't do anything.

The save button appears to be working fine. I have another renderer
(Octane) and when I render in that, the button to "Port to Max
FrameBuffer" doesn't work, which prevents e from saving the rendered
image. This appears to be part of the same problem with the Max frame
buffer.

Well, the Copy Image button just copies the image information into your Clipboard so it can be pasted into something like Word or Photoshop.  You won't see anything happen.  Why you can't Clone it is beyond me.

Doesn't Octane allow you to save out the frame buffer?  If not, I think that's very odd.

Hi. I agree that this sounds very odd. I haven't had this issue either, so all I can do is speculate...

- Could the clone window somehow has gone outside your screen? (maybe if you have used two screens and now only uses one)

- Have you tried uninstalling Octane to see if it works in Max then?

Hope you find a solution.

Bingo! You got it! I remembered switching my primary monitor some time back to the screen on the right (I have 3 screens), so I just switched it back to the one in the middle, and started Max. I now see it open a clone of the window over on the right screen. By making the right-hand display primary, the clone dialog must have been bumped off into empty space further to the right. If I drag it to the center monitor, it continues to open the clone dialogs in the right one. How do I get Max to bring all dialogs back to the primary display? I vaguely recall someone posting a shortcut for this a while ago. I don't know why Octane said it couldn't write to the Max Framebuffer, but it appears to be working fine now. Thank you for all your help.
