Blending A Dirt Path

I'm no modeler but, I just so happen to create a dirt path for my scene.

I tried using this plugin called "Color Edge". It just didn't work for me, meaning it the color edge material or any kind of feature doesn't show up. Is there anyway that I can blend the edges of the path?

From what I see you have a plane with 2 material IDs, one for the grass and the other for the dirt?

I would approach this in a different way:

  • Create a Blend material
  • One material would be your tiled grass, the other the tiled dirt
  • The mask would be a greyscale image. Black background and you would paint in white where you want your path to be. Use shades of grey to blend the two materials together if you want.

Forgot all about this material somehow.

But I don't know how to coordinate the path's edges to fit the mask texture...

EDIT: Ok based off what you said, I did a little research and I ended up using the legacy material maps to use the Vertex Color map. Then I use Vertex Paint to paint the edges of the path.

So problem solved, thanks.
