bitmap proxy / paging: Turn this off / reset - nothing obvious

I was experimenting with the bitmap proxy in the rendering setup:

And found that it was kind of creating an issue with the rendering of my reference blueprint bitmaps, and causing me more trouble distracting me with tiling and "real world" map size between the viewport and render.

I believe, I turned it OFF, but somehow it seems to be residual to my scene and I can't seem to get it to switch back to match the same size bitmap ratio between the viewport and render:

(render output):

Is there another dialog I missed to trigger the bitmap proxy resolution reduction?  Or... a way to reset the render/environment of the scene altogether to the default settings ?

Hi. These settings are pr. scene settings, and changes will first appear after saving the file, closing it, using the "reset" or "new" function, and then opening the file again. Some peopke even advise to restart Max.

Hope it helps

I have gone far past the reset, new and reboot computer standard procedures way long ago.  I've wasted ALOT of hours exploring the help file and changing a countless amount of settings to try and fix this on my own before I posted here to ask for help.  The function appears to me to be stuck on, even know I have disabled it - according to the dialog.

It's misleading as well.   I can only uncheck the check-box, and "generate proxy later" button is available or "cancel".

At this point, I think I actually need to export the whole town map model scene and import it into a new scene file to correct what's going on.

Hi. Yes this dialog box is missing some logic and usability. But besides that, I think you might have run into a bug. Please report it.

I got this dialog today, for the first time.  I don't know if it's part of the newest FEB 2016 update/extensions?  If so, it's nice to know I'm not the only person using 3ds who has trouble with toggling bitmap proxy's off....

To person who developed this dialog:  Please add an option for me to STOP GENEREATING PROXIES.  If I'm going to be asked about proxies, I would like to be asked to continue to use proxies, and if yes - then present options to generate the proxys now or later.  Also, it would be nice to know, which of the 300 objects has a proxy on it, since it clearly is not shown in the asset browser.  Thank you.  I believe by toggling proxy's on, are actually signing a deal with the devil himself - to present your life with caotic trouble - disguised as boosting performance in 3ds.
