batch rendering with exr

Hi All,

Im trying to render out using the batch render tool. I am using max17 and vray 3.61. What is the correct procedure in getting my exr files outputted with the correct render elements?

The only way that I have got this to happen is by saving out a render preset for each camera in my scene. The problem is I get duplicate frames render out from the batch tool. 1 set from my presets and 1 set from the batch render output.

Am I doing something wrong or is this how its supposed to work?

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks so much for your post!

I actually had this issue a little while ago when trying Batch render some Render Elements with V-Ray as well. Could you see if the information in this Autodesk Knowledge Network article helps to get the EXRs to render your Render Elements using the Batch feature?

I hope this can help, and if you have any questions please just let me know. =]

I actually did try this and it still didn't work. I basically can do it as long as I save out presets for each camera. Then in order for the batch render to work I have to save out files for that as well. So I have jpgs for the batch images and exr for my presets.

I dont know another way to make it work.

Hmm that's interesting, and I really appreciate the information @Anonymous. Could you perhaps upload a scene that you're working with so I might have a look at the file directly?

You can upload the file(s) here if it is proprietary or would prefer the file not to be shared publicly, and I would be more than happy to have a look. =]

One thing I did want to mention, is if you are checking the EXRs in something like Photoshop with the ProEXR plugin, this has a known issue where the plugin cannot see V-Ray render elements properly when Batch Rendering normally with the EXR file format.

Thanks so much again for your help!
